Ćićarija

The Cicarija (Slovenian: Cicarija; Italian: Cicceria; German: Chi -friction floor, outdated also Tschitscherei; Chi Czech Karst ) is a 45 km long and 10 to 15 km wide part of the karst area in the Dinaric mountain range in northern Istria, between Trieste and Kastav.

Location

The Chi -friction floor is now mostly in Croatia, but also share in Slovenia him. In the north it is podolje from Matarsko, bounded on the south by the "White Istria ".

Topography

The karst area is predominantly on 700 to 800 m above sea level. The highest elevation in the Cicarija is (though not all calculated for you ) Veliki Planik ( 1,272 m) in the southeast of the area. Southeast of the mountains in the Učka includes ( highest elevation 1,401 m), with the Cicarija forms a morphological unit. The highest elevation in the Slovenian part is situated on the border with Croatia Glavičorka ( 1,082 m ), and more on Slovenian territory of Slavnik ( 1,028 m).

Etymology

The name derives from the earlier and remains today istrorumänischen population of the area: from (Croatian Cici or Ćiribirci ( Tschiribiren ) ).
