Cicolluis

Cicollus, Cicolluis or Cocolluis was a late ancient Celtic god of war. He was identified by the interpretatio romana with the Roman Mars, his native name is called " the meat to Great" interpreted or " large muscle " (also a bull of the same name is used). Since the name mostly in the Gallic dative occurs CICOLLVI ( OGAM font), the name is often rendered as * Cicolluis. But the Gaulish nominative was * Cicollos or Cicollus. In the Cymric cig means " meat " in Old Irish oll "big", "powerful".

Main distribution area of Cicollus were the regions of Côte -d'Or and Franche -Comté, where he was worshiped together with his consort, the goddess Litavis or the Bellona Roman inscriptions in honor of him was found, however, in Switzerland in Windisch AG in Germany and in Xanten.

The Gallic Cicollus is often associated with the Irish mythical figure of Fomoir King Cichol Gri- cenchos.
