The cie. toula limnaios is a contemporary dance company that was founded in 1996 by the choreographer Toula Limnaios and composer Ralf R. Ollertz in Brussels since 1997 and is based in Berlin.

In 1996, the choreographer and performer Toula Limnaios with the composer Ralf R. Ollertz in Brussels cie. toula limnaios. After eighteen years as an artist in residence at the Theatre L' L, it moved its headquarters to Berlin in 1997 and since then has her ensemble, with whom she works continuously, steadily expanded. In 2001 she was awarded a grant from the Meeting Neuer Tanz. In 2003 she opened her own venue HALL DANCE STAGE BERLIN. Their 2004 Beckett trilogy was titled breath as dance film for ZDF / arte produced. Since 2005, the Company receives a basic grant of Berlin's cultural administration. For the years 2008-2010 she drew the Performing Arts Fund with a concept for promoting top ensembles of independent theater and dance. The extensive repertoire of cie. toula limnaios, which now includes 29 full-length works is to look at German and international stages worldwide. 2011, they celebrated their 15th anniversary. The dance company is working with the Bregenz Festival, for which she staged reading tosca as a commission, the Goethe Institute and the Foreign Office together. The tours took the group through Europe, Africa and South America. In 2012 she was honored with the award george tabori.

Working structure

The cie. toula limnaios is not a temporary, project- based working ensemble, but follows the immanent necessity, with permanent employees, long-term planned productions to produce throughout the year for regular working hours and with its own stage with year-round game plans, what condition for their artistic achievements and their continued existence is. Its formal development is characterized by two new productions per year, since 2006, through a comparison of a polyphonic group production and an intimate chamber piece or an experimental work, be pursued with the new ways distinguished. Besides Sasha Waltz is the only company of Berlin, the thanks of permanent employment of her dancers it is possible to present regular revivals of their works.
