Ciriaco Errasti

Ciriaco Errasti Siunaga ( born August 8, 1904 in Eibar, † November 8, 1984 ) was a Spanish footballer.

Career

The central defender Ciriaco Errasti began his career at the small clubs Lagun Artea and UD Eibarresa, a predecessor of the current SD Eibar before he moved to Deportivo Alavés the age of 21. A season after the rise of the Basques in the Primera División, he moved finally together with his defense partner Jacinto Quincoces and striker Manuel Olivares to Real Madrid. The Brussels residents, he formed together with Quincoces and goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora a very strong defensive line and won a total of two league titles (1931 /32, 1932/33 ) and as many cups. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, he ended his career.

National

Ciriaco Errasti took with the Spanish national team at the 1928 Olympics in part that ended Spain in sixth place, and belonged to the squad at the World Championships in Italy in 1934. Here Spain eliminated in the quarter-final against the host nation.
