City of Portland (train)

The City of Portland was a 1935 to 1971 by the Union Pacific Railroad in cooperation with the Chicago & North Western ( in 1955 with the Milwaukee Road) powered luxurious overnight passenger train between Portland (Oregon ) and Chicago. The westbound train reversed under No. 105, train no. 106 went to the east.

A day after the Union Pacific had its first seven -piece streamlined train on the occasion of the " Portland Rose " festival presented to the public, took on June 6, 1935, the M- 10001 of the "City of Portland " the first diesel-electric transcontinental night train service on the 3656 km long stretch on.
