Civilisation (TV series)

"Civilisation: A Personal View" (or " civilization " ) is produced by a BBC documentary which dealt with the ( cultural) history of the Western world since the early Middle Ages in thirteen episodes. It was first broadcast on BBC Two in 1969. Responsible for the series was Kenneth Clark, who wrote, performed the mission and in 1969 also of the same book: published "Civilisation A Personal View". The German television version was titled " civilization - the culture of the West " sent in the fall of 1977, the print edition is entitled " Glory of the West" ( Translator: Thomas Monrad ).

Civilization was one of the first color documentation of the UK and one of the first major productions of BBC Two, under the direction of David Attenborough. The series was broadcast on BBC Four again and is available on DVD since 2005. The German version, however, was not repeated and not even released on DVD. The following German episode title is followed about the book edition, with the television version - unlike the English original - not identical.
