Clarice Benini

Clarice Benini ( born January 8, 1905 in Florence, † September 8, 1976 in Poggio a Vico, Rufina) was an Italian chess player.

Clarice Benini was the daughter of chess lover Giuseppe Benini (1854-1920) in 1911 at the National Tournament of Rome, a forerunner of the Italian Championship, participated.

Benini played twice for the World Chess Championship for women. She reached in 1937 in Stockholm second place behind world champion Vera Menchik and 1949 /50, Moscow ninth place.

1938 and 1939 she won the Italian championship of women. She won international women's tournaments in 1956 in Gardone and 1957 in Amsterdam; 1936 on the Semmering, 1953 in Abbazia and 1958 in Beverwijk they were each second.

In 1950 she was awarded by the World Chess Federation, the title of International Master of the women ( WIM).
