Clarinet Contrast

Clarinet Contrast was a German jazz group of five clarinet plus rhythm section, the revived interest in the clarinet in the contemporary jazz scene and was involved in the renaissance of the clarinet in jazz and improvised music.

Work

The musical concerns of Clarinet Contrast was to demonstrate the sound of the clarinet in contemporary jazz while highlighting the contrasts of the different ways of playing their members. Although the group only a few concerts were given in the period of its existence - she performed at the German Jazz Festival Frankfurt, Oberhausen Jazz Festival ( with W. Breuker ) and the Ludwigsburg Festival ( with G. Hampel in place of M. fungus) - it solved the professionals from great response. The articulations of the protagonists were very far apart, and the group could then find a suitable record company for their ambitious project. After two years, the group split again. Three members of "Clarinet Contrast", Robinson, Jörgensmann and Conrad then came in 1980 when Clarinet Summit " of the SWF again together. Joachim -Ernst Behrendt had the idea of " Clarinet Contrast " taken up and re-designed as Summit.
