Claron McFadden

Claron McFadden ( b. 1961 in Rochester, New York) is an American classical singer (soprano ).

McFadden studied voice at the Eastman School of Music. She became internationally known for her performance in the title role of Berg's opera Lulu under Andrew Davis at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

She has performed at opera houses such as the De Nederlandse Opera, the Opéra -Comique, La Monnaie and the Royal Opera, the Salzburg and Bregenz Festival and the Festival d' Aix -en- Provence. At the Baden State Theatre Karlsruhe Handel's Rodelinda and sang at the Handel Festival in Halle (Saale ) whose Semele. With the Les Arts Florissants, she performed throughout Europe.

Priorities of McFadden's repertoire are on the one hand the great oratorios of the Baroque period, on the other hand, works by contemporary composers, especially Dirk Brossé and Harrison Birtwistle. Birtwistle Paul Celan Songs led them several times with the Nash Ensemble, London. In Concertgebouw she sang, among others the vocal part in Dimitri Shostakovich's 14th Symphony and Benjamin Britten's Illuminations

Among her recordings especially Birtwistle Celan Songs, Heitor Villa -Lobos ' Bachianas Brasileiras, Jean -Philippe Rameau's Les Indes Galante, Henry Purcell's King Arthur and Acis and Galatea and Ottone be mentioned by Handel.
