Claude Serre

Claude Serre ( born November 10, 1938 in Sucy -en- Brie, † 16 November 1998) was a French cartoonist.

Serre began his artistic training at the age of fifteen years as a porcelain painter. From 1962 he published drawings in Plexus, Le Planète, Harakiri, Lui and Le Pari Scope; 1972 his first band with pictures came out about physicians. The book has sold over one million times and contributes in the German edition the title "White coat - slightly blackened ." This was followed by fourteen more volumes with drawings. Subjects were, for example, the sports, home improvement, motorists, children, the food and again, doctors and death.

Often he used for his drawings only black ink, if necessary supplemented by at most bloody red Especially his uncoloured drawings recall in detail their true accuracy of the caricatures by Honoré Daumier. Most of his images and picture stories comes from without words; yet his albums have been translated into fourteen languages.

Serre died at the age of sixty years in a traffic accident.
