Claudio López (footballer)

Claudio Javier López (born 17 July 1974 in Río Tercero ) is a former Argentine footballer.

Career

Association

Claudio López began his career at Racing Club Avellaneda, for whom he played from 1992 to 1996. Then he went to the Spanish club Valencia CF, where he played for four years before he for a transfer fee of 23 million euros joined Lazio in 2000. There he played until the 2003/04 season after the club América, he moved to Mexico to play there until 2006. In 2007 he returned to his old club Racing Club Avellaneda. From March 2008, López played for the Kansas City Wizards in the U.S. Major League Soccer, since 2010 he runs for the Colorado Rapids on. In May 2011, he announced his retirement from professional football.

National

López has played a total of 58 games for the Argentina national football team and scored 10 goals in the process. He won in 1996 with Argentina silver at the Olympics and took part in the World Championships in 1998 and 2002.
