Claus riding Maier ( born March 17, 1964 in Würzburg ) is a former German football goalkeeper. Since the 2013/14 season, riding Maier worked as a goalkeeping coach at second division SC Paderborn 07
Career
Riding Maier began at the Würzburg Kickers with the football game, but even as a teenager moved to Würzburg FV. When he went back to Active to Kickers Würzburg ( Bavaria league). His professional career began at Viktoria Aschaffenburg (2nd Bundesliga, 1986-89 ). He then played two years for the Wiener Sport - Club (1st Bundesliga, 1989-91 ), before moving to the Stuttgarter Kickers, where he made his Bundesliga debut in 1991. On his next club, 1.FC Kaiserslautern, riding Maier was only reserve goalkeeper behind Gerald Ehrmann and only came to eight inserts. For this reason he joined in 1994 as a successor to Oliver Kahn for Karlsruher SC. With the KSC he reached the final of the DFB-Pokal 1995/96, which he lost to his former club Kaiserslautern 0:1. In addition, he participated with Karlsruhe in 1996/97 and 1997/98 UEFA Cup.
After the descent of Baden in the Bundesliga riding Maier joined the 1998/99 season to VfL Wolfsburg, in which he completed 163 of his 335 Bundesliga games in the next five years. He was a record player of Lower Saxony, until replaced him Miroslav Karhan with 173 inserts. After Jürgen Röber riding Maier had sorted out at VfL, the goalkeeper went to Borussia Monchengladbach, but also came there only sporadically used. In 2004 he moved to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt to the 2nd Bundesliga. The contract was re-dissolved already in the following March.
From May 2005 played Maier riding at the Norwegian first division side Lillestrøm SK, who was trained by Uwe Rösler. With this club he reached the cup final. With almost 42 years, he was voted the best goalkeeper in the league. After he finished his career as a professional footballer.
After the retirement of riding Maier trained meantime the German goalkeeper for the U21 national team. Then he was coach at Goalkeeping School at Borussia Mönchengladbach, before joining as a goalkeeping coach for Hamburger SV on 16 February 2007. In the summer of 2010, his contract ran out at HSV and he was replaced by Ronny Teuber.
In October 2011 Equestrian Maier returned as the second goalkeeper for Oberliga SV Halstenbek- Rellingen to the football field back. At the end of the 2011/12 season he was goalkeeping coach at the club. However, after an injury of the root Keepers, he returned in the season 2012/13 again back into the goal. Total riding Maier played in the league 22 games. On his last mission on May 24, 2013, was 49 years old.

Trivia
Riding Maier succeeded in the service of Karlsruher SC in the season 1994/95 in a 0-0 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen as previously the only Bundesliga goalkeeper to shoot the ball during a game twice on the stadium roof. In his last assignment in the Bundesliga on 27 March 2004 match between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Bayern Munich Riding Maier was 40 years and 10 days old. He is one of the ten oldest players who have ever played in the Bundesliga.
