Claus Richter

Claus Richter (* November 4, 1948 in Straubing ) is a German journalist. He has since January 1, 2001 Chief Editor of ZDF - political magazine Frontal21.

Life

After finishing high school in Düren and military service Richter studied politics, economics and German at the universities of Bonn, Heidelberg and Mannheim. Since 1973 Richter worked as a freelancer at the WDR radio and television, especially for the editors of the ARD political magazine Monitor. In 1974, Judge resigned his state examination in Bonn. In 1976, a PhD. with a thesis on The Revolution of 1848 and the German liberalism, also in Bonn. 1976-1981 worked as a fixed judge editor for monitor. From 1981 to 1984 he was correspondent for the ARD and Head of Office in Warsaw, 1984-1987 ARD correspondent and studio manager in New York and from 1987 to 1991 ARD correspondent and studio manager in East Berlin. From 1991 to 1997, was a judge as ZDF correspondent and studio director for Southeast Asia in Singapore and in the years 1997/1998 ZDF correspondent and studio director in Moscow.

In the period from 1 May 1998 to 31 December 2000 was a judge ZDF chief reporter and turned in addition to current contributions and the documentation, including Adventure Amazon, The New Silk Road and The struggle for Caspian oil.

Since 1 January 2001 he has been managing editor of the ZDF political magazine Frontal21. Since 2002 he is a freelance lecturer at the ems Electronic Media School at Babelsberg.
