Cleon (Roman rebel)

Cleon (Greek Κλέων ) came from Cilicia and was a slave in Agrigento in the 2nd century BC. He was with Eunus together the most important leader of the first Sicilian slave revolt.

Just as Eunus Cleon led first to a small group of insurgent slaves, about 500 slaves from Agrigento, the enlarged soon. Approx. 136 BC, he joined his flock with the Eunus and received from him the title Strategos. Together they conquered Morgan and Tina Tauromenion and other cities. It was not until 132 BC, the Romans succeeded, put down the rebellion.
