Morgantina

Tina Morgan is an ancient city in Sicily in the field of the place Aidone in the province of Enna. The place was from prehistory to the Roman period an important place in Sicily.

Location and excavations

The archaeological sites are located on the territory of the village Aidone about 35 km southeast of Enna. The place was thus easily accessible from Syracuse, Gela, Enna and Catania. Piazza Armerina is located 15 km southwest of Morgan Tina away. The excavations are operated by an American team at Princeton University. The excavations began in 1955 and continue to this day.

One of the most important Morgan Tina associated archaeological remains, is the statue of Aphrodite by Tina Morgan. She was issued until 2010 in the J. Paul Getty Museum and then returned to Italy. It is now exhibited in the regional museum on site.

History
