Clerve

View from the Hockslay on Kautenbach: the Klerf flows behind the church and ends in the amount of the village in the Wiltz

The Klerf is a river in the north of Luxembourg ( Ösling ) with source near Huldange ( Huldange ) to 530 m above sea level Here it is called Woltz. It retains this name until her flow in Clervaux ( Clervaux), from there it turns into the Clerve. It opens into Kautenbach at an altitude of 250 masl in the Wiltz.

Attractions on the River

Between Troisvierges and Kautenbach Luxembourg northern railway follows the river. The route is now used exclusively for passenger trains traveling back and forth every hour between Troisvierges and Luxembourg (city). Trains to Belgium and Liege there are doing every two hours.

In Troisvierges a trail leading into the wetland Cornelys Millen. The " Sentier des Passeurs " follows a Fluchthelferweg, were funneled to the Luxembourg from 1943 conscientious objectors to Belgium.

The biggest and most interesting place is Clervaux Man with the castle and the Family of.

In Kiischpelt drives the water of the river Rackés Millen " in the district Enscherange. This is the only operational preserved water mill in Ösling. Worth seeing is the district Lellingen with its old farmhouses and the daffodils.

The most scenic part of the valley is located between Lellingen and Kautenbach. Here the valley narrows to a Kerbsohlental with river terraces and striking Talmäandern. Besides the railway line there are only hiking trails and a bike path.

Along the river course there are numerous remains of the former meadow irrigation, here called " Fléizen ".
