Cléry-Saint-André

Clery -Saint -André is a French municipality with 3283 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Loiret in the Centre region. It belongs to the district of Orléans and the canton of Clery -Saint- Andre. The town is located 15 km southwest of Orléans, on the banks of the river Ardoux.

History

First mention of the place as " Clariacus vicus " middle of the 6th century.

In Clery were King Louis XI. and his second wife Charlotte of Savoy, both died in 1483, buried.

The parish and later an independent municipality of Saint -André was absorbed during the revolution. 1918 Clery was renamed the Clery -Saint- Andre.

  • Notre- Dame de Clery 's Basilica ( 14-15. Century) with the tomb of Louis XI. , The original of which was destroyed and replaced in 1622.
