Clessé, Deux-Sèvres

Clessé is a commune with 940 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Deux -Sèvres in the Poitou -Charentes. It belongs administratively to the district Parthenay and Canton Moncoutant.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 15 kilometers north- west of Parthenay and 15 kilometers south-east of Parthenay in the landscape Gâtine. Neighboring communities of Clessé are:

  • Chiché in the north,
  • Amailloux in the Northeast,
  • Saint- Germain -de- Longue- Chaume in the East
  • Fénery in the southeast,
  • Pougne - Hérisson in the south
  • Neuvy- Bouin in the southwest
  • La Chapelle -Saint -Laurent in the west and
  • Boismé in the northwest.

The northern part of the municipal area is drained by several small streams to Thouaret, a tributary of the Thouet, in the southern part of the rivers Cébron and palace, which also lead to the Thouet. The municipality is located next to a large number of small lakes and the reservoir Etang de Fréaux, which extends into the neighboring parish of Saint- Germain -de- Longue- Chaume.

Transport links

The municipality lies at an intersection of local roads. The department D19 road connects Moncoutant and Parthenay, the D46 leads from Saint -Loup- sur- Thouet about Airvault after Moncontour and the D139 from Saint -Pardoux after Parthenay.

The municipality was formerly crossed by a railway line, which ran from Parthenay Parthenay after. The operation has been set, however, now is located on the railway embankment on a regional cycle route ( Voie Verte ).
