ClimateHouse

Climate House (Italian: CasaClima, English: Climate House) is a certification system for energy-efficient construction in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol. It was founded in 2002, modeled on the EU Buildings Directive 2002/91/EC, introduced as the first building label in Italy and is a standard for sustainable, resource-efficient and sustainable building.

In the Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol climate house building standard for low energy houses is required by law. 2005, the minimum standard of energy efficiency of the building envelope was defined mandatory for new buildings with the C class. Since 13 June 2011, the standard climate house B ( so-called 5 -liter house ) as mandatory minimum energy efficiency rating for new buildings. The South Tyrolean provincial government wants to raise the minimum standard for new residential buildings to climate house standard A ( so-called 3-liter house ) in 2015.

History

Air house was built in the years 2000 to 2002 in the Office of Air and Noise Autonomous Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol developed under the leadership of the Agency Director N. Lantschner.

The United Nations invited in November 2005, the project " Climate House " to the 11th UN Climate Change Conference in Montreal one. Air house was selected out of 21 projects as an example of concrete and sustainable climate protection.

Air house is in a continuous expansion. Mid-2011 there were already 3,200 certified eco-homes throughout Italy.

The Climate House Bozen was founded in 2006 and since then operates as a public and independent institution for energy certification of buildings as well as for education and training for all contributing in building actors. The Climate House Certification is the official certification of the energy demand of a building and is exclusively carried out by the Climate House Agency. This is not involved in the construction process, but works with external auditors climate house together. The trained auditors carry out inspections in accordance with standard procedures.

The core areas of work of the Climate House Agency are in the information and public awareness on the subject of construction and energy. The agency offers courses for planners, contractors and builders.

The climate house project attempts to energy conservation and environmental sustainability to unite with the goal of energy-efficient to promote environmentally and climate- friendly construction.

Early 2012 lost the climate house agency of credibility, because the inventor of the Climate House and Director of the Agency Norbert Lantschner first suspended and was sacked on 1 March 2012.

According to the building heating energy requirements are differentiated according to the following classes:

  • KlimaHaus Gold: heating energy requirement less than 10 kWh / m² a
  • Climate House A: heating demand below 30 kWh / m² a
  • Climate House B: heating energy requirement less than 50 kWh / m² a

Certification

The certification of the Climate House Agency classifies the building one after the energy efficiency of the building envelope. Energy efficiency is the basis for establishing the climate house classes.

In the technical KlimaHaus Directive of the certification process is established. This defines precise rules for the calculation of the heated building envelope and the heated volume and the avoidance of thermal bridges, thermal insulation in summer and much more.

Since 1 March 2010, an air tightness test ( blower door test ) for new dwellings and offices is prescribed. The classification in energy demand classes is based on examination of the construction or completion of the project. The climate house agency conducts site inspection certificates and inspections on construction sites. After a final inspection of the Climate House is issued energy certificate and pass the plaque.

The Energy Performance Certificate for a building gives information about the energy efficiency of a building and is a tool to estimate the energy costs. The Climate House Energy Performance Certificate can be requested for all building use types.

The certificate provides information on:

  • The energy efficiency of the building envelope: It reflects the quality of the energy savings of the building.
  • The overall energy efficiency: it describes the energetic quality of the building envelope and the built-in home automation.
  • The sustainability of the building: It evaluates the materials and systems used ecological point of view.

Climate House Nature

Rated Besides the energy requirement for the residential KlimaHaus nature and quantity, the environmental and the expenditure of energy for building materials.

A request for an air- House Nature certification requires the following criteria must:

  • Heat requirement ≤ 50 kW / m² a
  • CO2 emissions ≤ 20 kg / m² a
  • Resources:

Climate House Nature evaluated the construction according to three indicators of environmental stress:

  • Demand of primary energy demand from non-renewable resources PEI ne [ MJ]
  • Acidification potential AP [kg CO2 equivalent ]
  • Global warming potential GWP [kg CO2 equivalent ]

Besides KlimaHaus Nature there are other certification systems for energy efficient and sustainable buildings: Air Hotel, Air House Habitat ( housing estates ), Air House Wine (wine cellars ), Air Wing Work & Life ( multifunctional building) and Air Mobile Home ( mobile houses).
