Features
The flies reach a body length of 10 to 13 millimeters. Your body is colored black, the mesonotum is bright red coated velvety. Sit on the sides of Mesonotums thorns, which are twice as long as the base of Mesonotums wide. The abdomen is relatively wide. The wings are brown tinted.
Occurrence and life
The species is widespread in western and southern Europe. The larvae develop in predatory ant nests, such as Formica fulginosa.
