Cloud Gate Dance Theatre

Oculus is a choreography of the dance Taiwanese director Kuo -Chu Wu. The piece was choreographed by Kuo -chu Wu for the Staatstheater Kassel.

Oculus is Latin for eye, but as Wu chose this word as the title for his choreography, Kuo -Chu Wu was referring specifically to the dome of the Roman Pantheon, through the oculus, the light from above, falls from the heavens in the huge building.

The premiere of Oculus took place in 2005 at the Staatstheater Kassel, where Wu worked as a dance director and his company. The piece is now danced by the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre 2 - Compagnie.
