Kuo-Chu Wu

Kuo -Chu Wu ( born August 18, 1970 in Taipei, † January 6, 2006 ) was a Taiwanese choreographer.

Life

After studying at the National Institute of the Arts in Taiwan from 1997 to 2004 Kuo -Chu Wu studied dance at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, which significantly influenced his work. During this time he made primarily with their own choreographies a name. In 2002 he won the dance prize of Joseph and Else Classen Foundation. In June 2004 he showed at the Folkwang Dance evening with the third year of the premiere of " Fugue". In addition to several choreographies for the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, with whom he went on tour in Hong Kong and Taiwan, he choreographed on behalf of the Wuppertal Opera House and the Folkwang University.

Following his studies in the season 2004/2005 Kuo -Chu Wu was director of the Dance Theatre of Kassel and took some Folkwang dancer with in his company. The first dance evening, which in the Documenta -Halle in Kassel State Theatre had its premiere on 5 November 2005 continued the collaboration with the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre.

Kuo -Chu Wu died on 6 January 2006 from leukemia.

In June 2006 the premiere of the piece slipstream which the dancer Malou Airaudo choreographed in honor of Chu Kuo Wu instead.
