Club Jorge Wilstermann

Jorge Wilstermann is a Bolivian football club from Cochabamba. The club was founded on November 24, 1949 won a total of ten times, the Bolivian football championship.

Club history

The club was founded in 1949 by workers of the airline Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano and was first called San José de la Banda. The club colors were blue and white. After the death of Jorge Wilstermann the club renamed in honor of the first commercial pilot in Bolivia, the club colors were changed to red and blue.

His first big time had Wilster 1958-1960, in which the team three times in a row was national champion - a feat that would otherwise succeeded to any other Bolivian club. 1960 was also the year in which Jorge Wilstermann took part in the first Bolivian club in the Copa Libertadores. With 1:7 and 1:1, the Elf was eliminated by the eventual champions Peñarol Montevideo. The fourth championship was won by the club in 1967.

The second golden era lasted from 1972 to 1973, in the Wilster the title five and six won. Two more championships secured the club in the years 1980 and 1981, including the Brazilian world champion Jairzinho contributed. 1981 also managed the team, to qualify as a first Bolivian representative for the second round of the Copa Libertadores.

In 2000, Jorge Wilstermann won after the Apertura and the overall championship, 2006, the team won the Clausura and 2010 Apertura championship again.
