Clyde Lucas

Clyde Lucas was an American singer, trombonist and bandleader in the range of swing and popular music. He led the formation Clyde Lucas & His California Dons.

Life

Lucas began his career in the band of Herb Wiedoeft in San Francisco and founded in the early 1930s on the west coast of the USA his first band with which he walked across the United States on theater tours and had successful engagements in hotels. He worked beside it with his orchestra in the monitoring of the first sound films. The instrumentation of the band usually consisted of four saxophones, two trumpets, and a four-piece rhythm section, which was often supplemented by violinists. Characteristic of his band was the fact that every musician mastered at least two instruments; Lucas himself played trombone and marimba.

Clyde Lucas & His California Dons was successful with theater guest performances and hotel appearances go even during the war years.
