Coalition for the Transformation of Liberia

The Coalition for the Transformation of Liberia (English Coalition for the Transformation of Liberia, abbreviation Cotol ) is a political party alliance, founded to compete with the Liberian general election, 2005.

Initially there was the Cotol from the Liberian Action Party (LAP ), the Liberia Federation Party ( LUP ), the People's Democratic Party of Liberia ( PDPL ), and was founded in 1869 and until 1980 as a single party dominant True Whig Party ( TWP ). The LAP and LUP merged in 2010 with the ruling Unity Party.

In the general election of 2005, the presidential candidate of the coalition, Varney Sherman was on the 5th place of 22 candidates by winning 7.8% of the vote. He advised his constituents in the subsequent runoff George Weah of the Congress for Democratic Change to choose.

Cotol was more successful than in the simultaneously held parliamentary elections, winning seven Senate seats, more than any other political party or coalition, and eight seats in the House of Representatives.
