Codex Mariendalensis

The Codex Mariendalensis is a manuscript of Yolanda epic from the 14th century. She was thought to be lost in the meantime, but was by Guy mountain in the library of Ansembourg castle ( now the town Tuntange ) rediscovered in 1999.

It is one of the few literary sources in the Middle High German language from the Moselle Franconian room. In Luxembourg, the religious history of Brother Hermann von Veldenz on the Viandener count's daughter and nun Yolanda of Vianden is happy to explain to the ancient testimony of the Luxembourg language and national identity. The font was overpriced from the State of Luxembourg after ten years, according to Romain Hilgerts assessment, acquired by the Earl of Ansembourg and his heirs. The manuscript is now in the Bibliothèque nationale de Luxembourg under the signature Ms 860

After the project of a critical text edition had failed to disagreements among the authors, the evaluation of the epic of the University of Trier has been entrusted. The Altgermanistin Claudine Moulin has now edited a character faithful reproduction in the series of the Institut Grand- Ducal Leo according to scientific standards. Thus, for the first time is the original text of the public.
