Coleman Barks

Coleman Barks ( born 1937 in Chattanooga, Tennessee) is an American poet and translator of the works of Rumi and other Persian mystics.

His translations have made ​​Rumi the most popular poet in the United States of America and also contributed much to the popularization of Sufism in the Western world.

2006 Coleman Barks was awarded by the University of Tehran, an honorary doctorate.
