Colin Beattie

Colin Beattie ( born October 17, 1951 in Forfar ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP). In the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 Beattie won the direct mandate in his constituency Midlothian North and Musselburgh and pulled the first time in the Scottish Parliament.

Life

Beattie visited the Forfar Academy. After training in the financial sector Beattie worked in the banking industry and, in 1995 in the financial sector of London. In 2007 he was elected to the Council of the Council Area Midlothian. Beattie was including in elections to the Scottish Parliament in 2011 as a candidate for the SNP for the newly formed constituency Midlothian North and Mussleburgh, the parts of the Council Areas Midlothian and East Lothian, set up and went with almost 3,000 votes ( about 10 %) ahead of the candidate of the Labour Party Bernard Harkins as the winner of the constituency. Winning this constituency for the SNP was significant in that because it was a stronghold of the Labour Party.

Beattie is married and a member of the Rotary Club in Dalkeith.
