College Board

The College Board is a nonprofit American Examination Board, which was established in 1900 as the College Entrance Examination Board ( CEEB ). It performs various standardized tests primarily by students for American high schools. The most famous among them, the SAT is provided by almost all American universities. The Commission's headquarters is located in New York. However, there are a further 14 offices in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The current chairman and CEO of the College Board, Gaston Caperton is, the former governor of West Virginia.

The CEEB code

The College Board maintains a complex numeric registers for different countries, courses, scholarships, test centers and high schools. This is not only used internally by the College Board, but also used by other educational institutions for unique identification. The ACT Inc., the largest competitor to the College Board, maintains a similar numerical database. However, this is hardly external use.

SAT

The SAT is an American standardized test that is mainly required by study place - applicants to American universities.

PSAT

The Preliminary SAT ( to German: preliminary SAT) is an American standardized test that serves as a preparation for the actual SAT and on the other as qualification for various scholarships.

College Level Examination Program ( CLEP )

The College Level Examination Program allows students of all ages their academic skills in a series of exams to prove. Approximately 2,900 American colleges accept CLEP as evidence for services already provided courses and existing knowledge.

Advanced Placement Program

The Advanced Placement Program (abbreviated as AP) is an educational program of the United States, which offers courses on college-level in American high schools.

Evaluation errors

In March 2006, the College Board announced that it has several tests 1000 October 2005 mispriced. Although the error was already long known, the judging committee waited months to announce it to the public. Since the result of the SAT is a major decision criterion for inclusion of a student for many colleges, assessment criteria had to be changed.
