The Collie River is a river in south-west of the Australian state of Western Australia.

Geography

The river originates approximately 10 kilometers west of Darkan on Coalfields Highway at Gibbs. From there it flows west to Buckingham. There he spent his run to the north- west to the mouth of the Harris River. Then he turns to the south to the town of Collie. There he spent his run again west to 15 km away Wellington reservoir whose water while important for the growing population of Western Australia, but because of its high salt content is not suitable for drinking. The aim of the Waters and Rivers Commission is to reduce the salinity of the river in 2015 to 500 mg / l.

History

The river was named after Dr Alexander Collie, who along with Lt.. William Preston was the first European in 1829 the Collie River discovered.
