Colón Province

Colón is a province in Panama with the eponymous capital of Colón. The population of the province is 241 928 ( 2010 census ).

The province is located on the Atlantic coast and is divided by the Panama Canal. The region was shaped always by the Isthmus of Panama, the narrowest isthmus of the American continent. Economic center is the free-trade zone in Colón.

Founded in the province of Colón was built in 1855. Colón The name is due to the Spanish name for Christopher Columbus ( Cristóbal Colón ).
