Coltejer Building

The Torre Coltejer is the tallest building in the city of Medellín, Colombia.

History

The Torre Coltejer was built on the site of the ancient theater of Junín and the former Hotel Europa and had to Gonzalo Mejia complex was demolished to before. Construction began in 1968 and the building was completed in 1972. The skyscraper with a height of 175 meters, has 37 floors, which are used as commercial office space and is the fifth tallest building in Colombia. By 1977, the Torre Coltejer was the tallest building, was completed after the Centro de Comercio Internacional in the year with 192 m. The shape of the tower is a sewing needle dar. It was designed by architect Raul Fajardo, Aníbal Saldarriaga, Germán Samper, and Jorge Manjarres.

Owner is the company Coltejer SA, a textile company that was founded on 22 October 1907, and since the completion also has its headquarters in this building complex. Coltejer is one of the largest textile manufacturers in the country and has significantly contributed to the industrial development of the region. It is also headquarters of RCN radio, with the antenna system and the flagpole on the roof of the building has a total height of 195 meters. The building has 150 parking spaces and the building can accommodate 40,000 seated and standing for 168,000 people.
