Colubrinae

Smooth snake ( Coronella austriaca )

The authentics snakes or land and tree snakes ( Colubrinae ) are a subfamily of snakes ( Colubridae ). They have diverse designed lumbar vertebrae, but have never hypapophyses ( ventral appendages ) in contrast to those of Natricinae. In contrast to the Dipsadinae they have no flat vertebral arches on along with a wide downward Kiel. The authentics snakes are the largest subfamily of snakes, the exact number of them attributed genera varies depending on the underlying system. Under the Colubrinae fall also known snake species such as the Zorn snakes, the African egg-eaters or the king snakes.
