Columbia (including Columbia Diggings or Hildreth's Diggings ) is a census -designated place in Tuolumne County in the U.S. state of California.

The typical gold mining town was founded in 1850. She became one of the most important cities in the so-called Gold Country of California. Part of the town is still preserved today as a historical monument and a " California State Park". Columbia was in its heyday, the second largest city in California, and even stood as a parliamentary seat for discussion.

In three large fires, the last in 1854, burned down most of the city and was constructed with brick and iron structures. These structures still stand today.
