Commissario Laurenti is a produced by the ARD and running since 2006 television series based on the detective novels by Veit Heinichen. Proteo Laurenti is vice commissioner of the Trieste police and identified in murder cases, some of which lead him to the underworld of organized crime. In the first two films Sigi Rothemund was the director, for the following two movies it was Hannu Salonen, the fifth film Ulrich Zrenner took over as director.
In March 2009 it was announced that the ARD will not continue the series due to low ratings.
In addition, shortly afterwards died, on May 23, Barbara Rudnik, who plays the wife Laurentis.

- From the 3rd movie of the rank of Laurenti was adjusted accordingly his career change in the novels. Now he describes himself in episodes 1 and 2 nor as " chief of the Criminal Investigation ", he has held the rank of " Vice- commissioner ".
- The "Doctor Wolferer " in Episode 2 is known as " Lorenzo Vianello " (Karl Fischer) in the crime series Donna Leon
- Veit Heinichen has a cameo in the episode Danse Macabre: As Laurenti and Sgubin leaving the bar, he sits as a guest at one of the tables.
