Committee 2008

The Committee in 2008 (Russian Комитет 2008) was a union of liberal opposition in Russia.

The members of the committee that was established in January 2004, the policy and governance were opposed to by the then President Vladimir Putin. The stated goal of the organization was to ensure free and fair presidential elections in 2008. They wanted to prevent the appointment of a predetermined successor in the Kremlin.

Chairman of the Committee was Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Bukovsky members were, among others, Boris Nemtsov, Yevgeny Kiselyov, Vladimir Kara- Murza, Vladimir Ryzhkov, Viktor Shenderovich and Irina Chakamada.
