CIDA City Campus ( Community and Individual Development Association City Campus ) is a company incorporated in 1999, private, state-recognized and non-profit higher education institution based in Johannesburg, South Africa, which aims at the provision of higher levels of education to African students from poorer backgrounds. The establishment bills itself as "South Africa 's first free university" ( South Africa's first free university ).

Goals and visions

The targeted promotion of poorer African students is based on the vision to break the downward spiral of poverty and AIDS in Africa and to face her a culture of learning and self-confidence. To achieve this objective qualified specialists will be trained who will actively shape the future of Africa on its own. Talented young Africans should no longer be held by their unfavorable economic background of it, to the future leaders of their people ( "future leaders of Their nation" ) to develop.

In the long term is to be erected in any country in sub-Saharan Africa, a CIDA City Campus.

Studies and final

The CIDA City Campus is located in one of the Investec Bank building in downtown Johannesburg. All students have access to Internet and e- mail; for the doctrine is that with more than 1000 devices equipped - and self-proclaimed biggest - computer lab in South Africa available. The technical focus of the course are on the fields Business Administration and Information Technology.

Students of the CIDA City Campus will have the opportunity to acquire a four -year degree Bachelor of Business Administration ( BBA). The BBA degree of CIDA City Campus was officially recognized by the Council of High Education ( CHE), the South African government and a number of other institutions.

In a number of approximately 20,000 applicants a year 2007 approximately 1,300 students were enrolled at the CIDA City Campus. The majority of these students come from the rural areas of South Africa.

During their studies the students are required to the university enterprise by hand work - to support - such as in self-organized catering area. In their semester break they go to their home villages and teach there in order to achieve a multiplier effect in this way. After graduating, each graduate will pay for the tuition fees of students new students.
