Comoedia Mundi

The tent theater Comoedia Mundi eV is a German touring theater.

The concept

In summer, the " Comoedia Mundi " is set in a tent in various cities. In winter, the productions in permanent houses, theaters, cultural halls are listed. The existing framework of theater and Café Car is also used by events of guest performances, children's theater performances and music programs.

The ensemble

The theater was founded in 1983 with the need to fulfill themselves in concrete productions as an actor.

Meanwhile, it has become an international ensemble with changing members from the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany. The members have professional training and work experience, often not only in acting but also in the musical field. The group is looking for her subject which is being staged by intensive research and improvisation work very personally.

Since 1993, solo and duo productions are increasingly developed, with which individual members tours during the winter months. At the same time these pieces are listed on the tent tour with. The actor added draw for their productions and in equipment and technology area to the productions professionals from outside.

The profit recognized sponsoring organization has rented since 1988 near the city of Nuremberg in the castle Trautskirchen rooms. There is rehearsed, in our own workshops equipping created and maintained the fleet.

The technique

Comoedia Mundi is the only touring theater in Bavaria with its own mobile venue. Nationwide there are more than a handful of comparable conceptual theater. The theater has a tent with up to 200 seats, 35 m² stage area, own lighting system with 50 kW fleet of 11 Gypsy wagon, three truck tractors. In addition to packing and Café Car is the mobile habitat for nine to ten members on tour. Attached is a unique tour Gastronomy in the Café Car Senza Licenza which is venue for musical performances and readings at the same time.

Grants and Awards

The theater is Funded since 1997 by the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Art. In 2005, the theater was awarded the Wolfram von Eschenbach Prize of the district of Middle Franconia.
