Compound sentence

Set link (also block chaining or set of connection ) is the ability to sentences or clauses (see clause) to connect to a set number in the syntax. This may with the help of certain word classes (done by connectors such as conjunctions or adverbs or by converbs eg = syndetisch, see also Polysyndeton ), but even without such grammatical means ( asyndetically ).

Set of links can also coordinating or subordinate ( in some languages also kosubordiniert ) (see also main clause, subordinate clause; parataxis, hypotaxis ).

An example of a record series is: "Peter is sick, but Inge is well again. " But the conjunction is in this case, the connector, the syndetic coordination: causes ( here adversative ) linking both sets.

In the example, " It's raining, so I stay home. " Is the Pronominaladverb therefore the connector.

One must distinguish the concept of set link of the Cohesion and coherence, in which it goes to the connection between sentences across sentence boundaries, that is, a text- linguistic approach. Example: " It's raining. We need to cancel the event. "
