Condeep

Condeep (abbr. for concrete deep water structure - concrete deep water structure) is a basic structure for oil rigs. It consists of a concrete base in the form of a large oil tank out of the three or four columns above the water surface rich.

Condeep structures are available in up to 300 meters water depth, columns can reach about 30 meters above the sea beyond. The actual platform is not part of the Condeep construction. Manufacturer is based in Stavanger Norwegian Contractors.

Oil and gas companies use Condeep structures in the North Sea. In contrast to older designs, the basic structure is not made of steel but from reinforced concrete. The concept is tailored to the severe weather conditions and - aligned deep water depths in the North Sea - for the prevailing conditions.

After the concrete tank in the Ekofisk field proved to be a success, Norwegian Contractors expanded the concept and put Condeep 1973 as a standard platform before.

Troll A

A Troll in Troll oil field is the largest Condeep structure and moving the heaviest man-made structure. Norwegian Contractors built it with 2,000 workers over a period of four years, until it was established in 1995 for natural gas production.

The platform is 472 meters high and weighs 1.2 million tons. Built it is made of 245,000 cubic meters of concrete and 100,000 tons of steel for reinforcement. It reaches 300 meters below sea level and is located 35 meters further to the stability of the seabed.
