Conduit (software)
Conduit is a free software for data matching for the GNOME desktop. It allows the user data from various sources (PCs, online services, or other devices, such as mobile phones ) to synchronize.
The synchronization is carried out via a variety of interfaces. These can be of different data types (text, graphics, binary) deal and can serve as a one-way or two-way synchronization.
Thus, it is possible to synchronize Tomboy notes from Google Notebook or keep data between two computers at a consistent standard.
Objectives
Through Conduit is designed to allow users to keep all their information in sync - no matter where they are stored. This is to be achieved by Conduit only as a general framework (English backbone ) functions, eliminating the current problems that existing synchronization solutions usually only work for specific devices or websites.
Technical Background
Conduit has a collection of data providers and transformers. Data providers represent all possible resources such as attached MP3 player, web pages or installed programs. You have a file format (eg, image, contact, note ) and are either a source, a sink, or both. When the user tries to connect a data provider as the source with a data provider as a sink, Conduit will try to make this data connection using the available data converters. There are a number of basic data formats such that a conversion only once to be produced and can be reused by all of the data providers that use the same data format.
