Confederation (Poland)

A Confederacy was in Poland - Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569-1795), a privilege ( right ) of the nobility ( szlachta ), to form a military organization in order to achieve a political objective. In fact, it was almost always an uprising against the King of Poland.

The best known confederations were

  • Confederation of Warsaw ( 1573)
  • Confederation of Tyszowce ( 1655)
  • Lubomirski Confederation ( 1665-66 )
  • Confederation of Warsaw ( 1704)

  • Confederation of Tarnogród ( 1715-16 )
  • Confederation of Radom ( 1767)
  • Confederation of Bar ( 1768-72 )
