Conrad, Margrave of Brandenburg-Stendal

Konrad I of Brandenburg (* 1240, † 1304 also Conrad) was Margrave ( co-ruler ) of Brandenburg from the House of Ascanians.

Life

Conrad I was born the fourth of six children of Margrave John I of Brandenburg and his wife Sophia of Denmark. It was in 1266 at the age of 26 years along with his brothers John II of Brandenburg and Otto IV of Brandenburg co-regent of the Mark Brandenburg. His government area was the Neumark east of the Oder, where he, however, did not appear on the political stage; one time he assisted his brother Otto IV, as this Danzig and occupied the territory won by Rügenwalde. Konrad was with Konstanze of Poland ( † 1281 ), daughter of Duke Przemyslaw I of Great Poland, married. His final resting place Konrad I of Brandenburg in 1304 in Chorin monastery on the side of his wife Constanze.

Theodor Fontane is an inscription from the monastery Chorin according to Chorin Office files again as follows:

"Anno 1304 died on Sched (?) Margrave Conrad (I.) Elector of Brandenburg and is buried here this. "
