Conrad of Bavaria

Conrad of Bavaria (* 1105 on the Ravensburg, † March 17, 1154 in Modugno ) was the son of Bavarian Duke Henry the Black and Cistercians. He's name and patron saint of the cathedral of Molfetta.

In 1147 he was under the influence of Bernard of Clairvaux, a monk in the monastery. 1151 he went to the Holy Land, to live as a hermit, but was recalled in 1153 because of illness Bernhard to Europe. In Apulia he stayed in Modugno monastery, where he died. His relics are kept in Molfetta, the local cult was on 7 April 1832 his beatification by Pope Gregory XVI. confirmed. In the Order his feast is celebrated on February 9.
