Cons-Sainte-Colombe

Cons- Sainte -Colombe is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Cons- Sainte -Colombe is located at 545 m above sea level. M., east of Faverges, about 10 kilometers north-northwest of the city of Albertville ( straight line ). History

The place name derives from the Cons vulgar Latin word cumba (ravine, small valley ) away, from which developed the French combe. To 1789 and from 1801 to 1815 the church was only cons.

Attractions

The village church was built in 1860 in the Gothic Revival style. In the old town, many houses in the typical Savoyard style have been preserved. At the exit toward Marlen are two lime kilns dating from the 19th century, restored in 2006.

Population

With 366 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Cons- Sainte -Colombe is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 224 residents counted in Cons -Sainte -Colombe ). Since the mid- 1970s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

Economy and infrastructure

Cons- Sainte -Colombe was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today there are various operations of small businesses. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but is of Faverges Marlen, both on the main road N508 (Annecy- Albertville ) and easy access. The nearest links to the A430 motorway is located at a distance of around 19 km.
