Constantin Constantinescu-Claps

Constantin Constantinescu - Claps ( born February 20, 1884 in Beceni, Buzau county, † 1961 in Bacău ) was a Romanian general.

Life

Constantin Constantinescu - Claps was born on February 20 in Beceni, Circle Buzău in Romania. He graduated in 1905, " scoala Militara ", a military academy, and fought in the First World War on the Romanian side. During the military dictatorship of Marshal Ion Antonescu, he rose in the army and participated in the attack on the Soviet Union in part. He was appointed on 9 November 1941, Commander of the Fourth Romanian Army and commanded the Romanian army in the Battle of Stalingrad. He was replaced on February 10, 1943 by Constantin Sanatescu. A little later was sent into retirement. In 1951, he was arrested. He spent three years in detention and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 1954. Surprisingly, he did a year later was set free. Constantin Constantinescu died in 1961 in Romania.
