Constantine Aerial Tramway

The cable car Constantine (French: Le téléphérique de Constantine, better actually La télécabine de Constantine) is an aerial cable car in Constantine (Algeria), which connects the Old Town with the University Hospital Benbadis and the district of Cité Emir Abdelkader. As part of the public transport this cable car helps to relieve the chronically congested traffic in the city center. For tourists, the first section offers fascinating views of the more than 100 m deep gorge of the Oued Rhumel, on some of their bridges and across the vast country beyond the city limits.

Description

The gondola starts in the historic center on Place Tatache Belkacem, hovering 345 m far above the gorge of the Oued Rhumel across the middle station at the hospital and continue over densely built-up area of 1280 meters from the " hill station " Tannoudji at the Cité Emir Abdelkader. The entire route is thus 1633 m long, the height difference amounts to 89 m.

The train has 33 cabins, each with 15 seats. With a maximum speed of 6 m / s (21,6 km / h) it has a capacity of 2400 people per hour.

The drive is in the mountain station, the clamping device in the station in the old town. The haul rope with a diameter of 52 mm runs over 10 cable car supports, 3 in the first and 7 in the second section.

Client, which opened in June 2008 cable car was the Entreprise du métro d' Alger, who already had experience from the construction of the cable cars of Algiers. The cable car was supplied by the occurring here with her swiss company Garaventa Doppelmayr / Garaventa Group and assembled, the construction work was carried out by Algerian companies.
