Constitución is a city in Uruguay.

Location

It is located on the territory of the department of Salto on the eastern shore of the Río Uruguay. Downstream lies south of the capital of the department, Salto. North of Constitución is Belén. South of the city opens the Arroyo Grande Itapebí in the Embalse Salto Grande.

History

Officially Constitución was founded on July 11, 1852 pursuant to Act No. 297.

Population

The population Constitucións is 2,762 (as of 2011), including 1,370 male and 1,392 female. So it is in this respect, the second largest city of the department.
