Contagem

Contagem is a city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, 21 km from Belo Horizonte away. In 2010 lived in Contagem 603 442 people on 195.3 km ². This makes it the third largest city in the state.

After the 18th and 19th century a village had passed, the city was founded Contagem on 30 August 1911. In the 1930s, Contagem developed into a center of mining and is now to Belo Horizonte and Uberlândia the third largest city in Minas Gerais. 1968 strike of metalworkers took place here, which thus protesting against the Brazilian military dictatorship.
