Contest of Homer and Hesiod

The Certamen Homeri et Hesiodi (Greek Ἀγὼν Ὁμήρου καὶ Ἡσιόδου ) is an anonymous compiler from the reign of Hadrian ( 117-138 AD) declining working on a track from Alcidamas ( around 400 BC ) " Mouseion " (about "School " ), in which a poet contest between Homer and Hesiod is presented. The text served as a sophistical practice piece and is written in hexameters. This includes biographical traditions about Homer and Hesiod.

Text Edition

The first critical edition of the text is by Friedrich Nietzsche. This is an interesting connection to Nietzsche, from his hitherto neglected innovative approaches results in the Homer Research shows continuous, explicit rejection of romanticism and idealism, which forms the basis of his entire later philosophy.
